Time Well Spent

Jelly making is really a lost art. My Gammy used to make the BEST Jelly. My favorite kind was apricot-pineapple...mmmmm yummmm! So Good! Before she passed away she gave me the recipe and while I was cleaning out some stuff, I found it. It is astonishing how a smell or a taste can evoke really vibrant memories. Making this today made me think of my childhood with my gammy.

All of the ingredients were about $8 and it took me an hour or so to do it all. I am excited to see if it sets up. That can take up to a week. If not, its no biggie...we'll have lots of apricot-pineapple syrup....Gammy taught me that. Even the master had a batch or two not turn out. My yeild was almost 5 full pint jars (as you can see one is about 1/2 inch shy of full).

My goal this summer is to learn how to make homemade jam! It is the BEST! I love raspberry, but I also love apricot & pineapple too! So good!

Wow, aimee! Way to go...you could probably sell that stuff on EBAY and make some good money. Maybe you have yourself a stay at home business!

You are making me hungry for apricots. Ours are almost ready to pick...about another 3 or 4 days. Maybe we can have apricot cobbler on Sunday.

Your kitchen looks SO nice. I bet it's great to work in. Don't you just love to see the full jars sitting in the pantry all in a row?

Cherie-It is quite satisfying to see all the jam. I felt a little dorky, but I was THRILLED when I woke up on Wednesday and the jelly has set up correctly! I can't wait for your peaches!

Jocelyn- I do LOVE my kitchen. It was one of the main reasons we bought this house. I'll have to get a home tour up on the blog.
