The 2nd annual Stanton Summer Olympics took place the afternoon of the 28th of July. For those of you who aren't aware, we invite our friends and couples in our stake (church) to come participate in competitive events. The events that took place this year were the following: home run derby, football toss, free throw challenge, hillbilly golf, baby food tasting, jeopardy and best team uniform.
It really helped this year that Shaun had access to the field and gym (although the field was disgusting due to the non-stop rain that we have had for a month!). last year, this was s uch a hit that another couple decided to host a "Winter Olympics" at their home! Spencer and Texann (superman and wonderwoman) took the gold in both Olympics last year. With no excuses of being pregnant or having knee surgery this time, the Stanton clan came out with something to prove this year and kicked some ace! We actually barely edged out the reigning champions thanks to Aimee's miraculous 8-point walkoff-clutch-throw in hillbilly golf! We also won golds in the home run derby and the football throw thanks to Shaun and no thanks to Aimee. Due to the amount of baby food that Cooper consumes daily, we were victorious in that event as well!
The Olympic Committee was generous enough to have Taqueria Arandas cater the schindig. We still have enough rice and beans to feed the entire western coast of Ecuador. Aimee and I had a fantastic time and can't wait until the Winter olympics to continue this great tradition!
