Thrush Sucks!

So lil Maggie Jane is out of sorts. It started Saturday night when she woke up twice. I know this is not abnormal for most infants...but this one doesn't do that, she's mommy's angel. Sunday we discovered white patches all through her cheeks and lips. We got the medicine for thrush (yeast infection in the mouth), which is not longer purple (bonus!). Last night she got up four times, I hope this clears up soon and she returns to her old pattern.

We are having a terrible time during feedings because she would rather take a bottle. So I have been giving in. I hate it because I have worked so hard to nurse her. It has been so painful and it seemed as though we were through the hardest part then Wham! Thrush...now it seems as though we might not be able to do it. I feel sorry for her because it has to hurt, but I want her to breast feed. So we are trying to push through pain (I have thrush/breast infection) and make it work.
Here are the pictures for her announcement which may come out sooner or later depending on her sleeping habits today. She absolutley hated the tutu so I settled for thse two. At least she wore the bracelet!

I am quite sure that the worst pain I have felt as an adult, is seeing my children in pain. I am so sorry for little Maggie Jane. I am sure a Father's blessing will help, plus we are praying for her and you too. Can't wait to hold that little girl in my arms and kiss those oh so kissable cheeks. Tell Mr. Magnificent we are coming soon, and papa is bringing a red flashlight so we can play hide in go seek. See you soon. Can’t wait!!

I had thrush with both Isaac and Bella! IT SUCKS!!!! I would just cry when it was time for them to eat because it hurt so bad. I got through it though...just push through the pain for a couple days and it will clear up. Maggie is adorable!!!

There is still purple medicine called Gentian Violet. (or Genetian Violet) Your brother Jeremy has heard of it. You can get is behind the counter in some pharmacies. It cleared up the thrush in me and my first baby in a day where we had been taking all the prescription stuff for weeks. Try it - it works!!!
Don't give up yet!!!

I had thrush with K for 8 weeks, we went through several rounds of nystatin and diflucan. I think the nystatin is garbage personally. Get a nipple shield, Target has them for $7 it's the best money spent. I'm using one now for sore nipples. I never tried the get violet (sp?) but what worked well for us was grapeseed extract, google it on how to use it to treat thrush. That cleared it up in a week what nystatin wasn't doing for 7weeks. I also bleached bra's nightly and sterlized anything that came out of her mouth, like if a binkie went in her mouth and poped out, I sterlized it before putting it back in, same with bottle nipples. Thrush was my biggest nightmare. I hope it clears up or has already cleared up, I see I'm chiming in late but mostly I want you to know I've been there and feel your pain. I hope it gets better for you. Take care, and love you girl. Your family is beautiful.
